You need the PCV and breather.

The PCV valve goes into the side of the intake manifold. The connection on the passenger side valve cover is the air vent line, that flows clean air from the throttle body, into the valve cover, through the crankcase and lifter valley, and out through the PCV valve. You need the vent line or a breather, as noted in the post above. The stock valve cover has a small baffle under the hole for the vent line, to limit the amount of oil the get into the vent line, if the PCV valve can't handle the blowby, and it starts to flow backwards through the line to the throttle body.

Exactly how I do it, plenty of lube(wd40) and slow speed with even pressure - deburr the hole and put in your grommets.

With some aftermarket covers, you can gain enough clearance by grinding down the bottom of the alternator where it contacts the cover.
