Question about Cut-Outs

Anyone know if cut-outs should be capped at certain times of the year? I live in Texas and it gets hot as hell in the summer and in west Texas it gets real cold in the winter at school. When I was having my car worked on the mechanic said I should cap it during the winter because my O2 sensor would eventually go out. Is this true?

Give your mechanic a swift kick to the crotch. Untrue.

If it's too close to the O2 sensor, you'll develop inaccurate O2 voltages, because some outside atmosphere might interact with the sensor under low-load/rpm conditions. You shouldn't have it that close to a sensor anyway.

Put it underneath the passenger side back seat and keep it open all year.

I have the cut-out right underneath the rear passenger seat in front of the back right wheel, I don't see any sensors so I guess I'm ok, uncapped 4 life!!
