question about bearings, kinda advanced
question about bearings, kinda advanced
I need some advice on weather i should or should not replace my bearings.
I have a 95 LT1 engine with maybe 17k miles or so. it was 100% stock and running great. I built a seperate motor with some nice heads cam etc, that ended up not working out. SO, i put the heads on the 95 LT1. This was the first time the heads had ever been removed.
Well i have maybe dove my car for ~1000 miles since then. It has developed a "rattle" simular to a really bad TO bearing when its cold, but more of coming from the engine.
didn't think much of this untill i started getting wacky oil pressure. I disregaurded this because i was almost positve it was gauge error. its not doing the same things it has done in the past when i have had bad bearings.
Anyway over time(the 1000 ish miles) the rattle has lasted longer and become more intense.
with these 3 things and then reading this post http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ht=cam+bearing
I am wondering now are my bearings on the way out???
I think i have two choices. one is to wait it out and see what happens. the bearings may spin and leave everything in the motor trashed.
on the other hand i do have a tubular k member. what this means it i can (and have) replaces all the rods and mains while the motor and tranny are in the car. takes about 3 hours or so.
If i do replace the bearings, will this really help the problem stated in that post? or just give my engine another set of bearing to eat up?
