Put LT's in, car is not faster
Put LT's in, car is not faster
I put LT pacesetter headers in my 95 camaro, and it doesn't feel any faster.
Some things to note: When I drove it, it was just a test. I screwed in the driver side AIR fitting, and also had a friend (or atleast thought I did) screw in the passenger side AIr fitting. Once we were done runnign it, I popped the hood and the passenger air fiting had came completely out, so I assume it came out right after I started the car (he said it wasnt very tight). So in essence, I had a hole the size of a dime about a half inch from my engine block in the header. Will this cause it to act like it has a header leak? ALso, I didn't have my o2's plugged in yet. Will this effect performence? Will it run open loop? Also, I was running open headers. Anyways, I raced a friend, and the extact same outcome happened as before I got the long tubes on. I think once I block off those AIR holes (AIR delete), and plug the o2 sensors in, I will walk away from him.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: Put LT's in, car is not faster
Yes, but me and my friend were perfectly even before the headers, and we are still perfectly even now. I would think they will give me a few hp to pull maybe a car on him.
Re: Put LT's in, car is not faster
Well, you have to give the car a little bit of time to "learn". Plugging in the 02's will make a noticeable difference and also if you block of the air and you don't delete it from the pcm you'll see the performance of your car slowly grind to a halt but if you want you can pull the battery cables every couple weeks to prevent that. Good Luck
Re: Put LT's in, car is not faster
Check all your connections everybody alays rushes when doing plugs and headers, if it takes you an our to make sure you are all up and ready to go then do it, patience if you are using all your emissions it will take the com at least a week to learn. Or try to get a tune in on it, if its an auto it takes the com a while to learn it more then a m6 my opinion... check your o2s make sure they are fluctuating. In my honest opinion get new o2s it will make a world of diffrence...
hope this helps..

Re: Put LT's in, car is not faster
I gained 2 tenths so far from headers and plan on more bc my tires just suck so my 60 sucked this time so hopin for 3 or 4 tenths next time,The headers made a big difference for my car

Headers done right should be gaining you .2-.5 in the 1/4 and around 20-30rwhp, not to mention nice torquey gains.

Re: Put LT's in, car is not faster
Thanks guys for the replies. After the race my friends were ragging on me saying the long tubes wern't going to give me the gains I kept blabbing about (I estimated around 15-20 hp) So it's good to know the car takes a little time to adjust to them.

Is this true? Do I really have to delete the AIR from the PCM or it will effect performance?
Also, I forgot to note, my headers are ceramic coated.

a computer doesn't take weeks to learn. if your o2's are plugged in it takes immediate readings off of those. w/ the air the computer won't adjust for it not being there unless you have it unprogrammed though.

No you dont have to remove your AIR from your pcm. Just dont pull the fuses/relays for the pump and you wont set a code.
*edit
Time to edit that sig now
Re: Put LT's in, car is not faster
With headers, a tune, and exhaust i gained ALOT of power. You need your 02s to be hooked up, and might as well get your ECU programmed. If your car has a check engine light it will completely kill performance. I had to upload my tune and fix my MAF before i noticed my gains. in limp mode, the PCM seems to take alot of power away.
