Pushrods...

Ok, to start off, i know i am beating a dead horse with this subject.

My heads are not milled, block is not decked, using Felpro 1074 gaskets, proform (gm performance parts) 1.6 rockers, LT4 valve springs, and stock replacement comp cams hydraulic lifters.

I should be able to get away with 7.200" pushrods(stock length) right?

I know all about the make the hydraulic lifter solid and use an adjustable pushrod to measure with the mark on the valve tip ect.

I dont want to do all that if you guys dont think i have to.

Thanks for any advice.

I didn't do it when I threw my 1.6 rrs in but worst case you are going to wear your liners down faster than if you had measured and got the correct length, not saying that you need to get new ones.

Well, you can put in 7.2" rods and your car will run. I am proof of that. However, to do it right, you should measure. It is a pain to do but to get it right, you need to measure. If you don't, you will wear the valve guides. That is what happened to my car when I did as you are indicating. After 25K miles, I had excessive wear. Granted my car did not blow up but it would have caused issues down the road.

As a reference, I have a 0 decked block, AFR 190's, CC 1.6 pro mags, and LS7 lifters and my correct pushrod came to 7.2 exactly.

Is there any way to do the measureing with a hydraulic lifter?

If not, how exactly do you take the hydraulic ones apart, ive looked at them and i took the retainer clip off, but i cant figure out how to get the center piece out of the main body.

Thanks
