pulling engine problems
pulling engine problems
Got everything ready to go cherry picker is holding the engine up and the motor mounts are unbolted, can wiggle the motor around freely too. I unbolted the T56 from the block but can't get it to separate from the engine, it seperates about an inch or so but no further. Do i have to unbolt the slave cylinder and/or get the clutch fork off the throwout bearing for it to slide off? I'm missing something here and i don't want to break anything. I have a jack under the tranny to hold it up too, its just not letting the block slide forward off the input shaft. Thanks for the help.
Also, i have one grade8 bolt in the water pump hole and one in the back of the head holding this up, is this ok with the soft aluminum head as long as its threaded in the good? i didn't see any block holes to bolt to on the back.

Grade 8 is the minimum bolt grade I would use when lifting the motor. Be sure you can thread the bolts in atleast half way to ensure a safe lift.
Goodluck!

Yeah, you have to get that fork off of the TO bearing to get the tranny to seperate. I hope you have a happy hooker or something like that.
If you go out the bottom, it's pretty easy and much easier with the use of a lift. You have to take some brake lines loose and let the A/C out (not sure if you have to do that from the top), but you don't have to take the hood off. Rob's right, there are opinions that go either way. I like it out the bottom, myself.
