From ProjectTransAm to here and how is this happening
Hi all.As you can see I'm new.I had fomerly posed all my tech questions in Project Trans Am .com but they are shut down and surprisingly I've had no problems untill now.I have a 94 Formula that is literally kicking my butt.Especially since it's my wifes car and it's down.I replaced the Opti in 03 with a vented conversion and have had no problems since untill now.Recently she told me it was a little hard to start and then in a matter of 2 months it crapped out on her so I figure here we go again ,I install a new Opti and it's doing the same thing.I keep getting a code 36 and it had a 42 also but that has not came back since clearing.Strange thing is it might start first crank or crank a bunch but it will start.Lots of times when it starts the fans will come on and the A/C will not kick on unless I disconnect the battery cable and reconnect.I decided to drive it untill it quits and that was about 35 min.As I was making my way back it was missfiring badly, I reached over and shut off the air and it cleared up,I switched air back on, pop, pop missfire, back off, clear up but when i came to a stop it died.I have a fresh plugs, spiro wires and new Opti harness, coil and ICM for good measure.I don't get it and wondering if the ECM could possibly do this.I pulled it to check service no. and it has a rebuilt by G.M. sticker.Any suggestions would really be nice. Thanks
Hi Injuneer I see your Formula is still hanging tough with the same setup. The Opti I just replaced was a GM with about 80k.I also found 2 plug wires that had burned through on the headers, anyway the Opti I have now I was concerned about buying since it was an O'Reilly brand but being new with lifetime warranty I hoped it should be as good as the others.I also have a new short harness from the intake to Opti.Pulling it back off for a warranty replacement wouldn't be so bad except i'm trying to figure out the fan and a/c deal which really perplexes me making me wonder if a PCM could do this not to mention my wife is now driving mom-n-laws Ford Ranger and is not happy with my diagnosing skills to say the least. Thanks

Ha I hear you guys
I have an update. As of tonight I still have the same problem.Car will start but real hard to do.Fans come on immediatly when it starts and a/c will not engage.I don't have anyone to help me crank it at the moment so I can't follow the sticky test fully so I went the following route.Key on engine off positive to Opti 11.73V.Red/Blk wire 4.99V,Purple/White 4.99V.Pink/Blk wire from Opti is not showing to be grounded.Rechecked my grounds and looked for signs of a bad wire.I forgot and left the key on and plugged the Opti spark back in at the intake and for a couple of seconds the Air injection pump came on and the A/C compressor clutch engaged and kicked out even though it was shut off at the dash.I can't help but think thats not normal.Ideas??Thanks

"thepartsladi" went out of business about a month ago, after ripping numerous people off by taking their money and not delivering a product. They were replaced by a company with a different name, but a background check showed its the same people operating under a different name. Use caution.
