Programming with a Laptop?
Programming with a Laptop?
So I've heard of this being done, but I can't find much information on it. I already have a laptop, so what software would I need?
Also, I have a 93 so it's using the old computer stuff, will that be a problem?

93s have a replacable chip which requires extra hardware to deal with. The 94-5 stuff is cheap and easy to reprogram just hooking to the ALDL port under the dash. The 96+ stuff reprograms from under the dash too but the software to do it is more expensive.
I use Tunercat and an AKM cable, and Datamaster for my data logging.

As far as the 93, look at the systems available from Moates:

As far as the 95:
You can also scan OBD-I with Andy Whitaker's "FreeScan", and tune 94/95 with LT1_Edit. LI1_Edit can also include pcmcomm scanning software, if you buy it that way:
