problems after LT's and y-pipe

hi I just installed some pacesetter LT's and y-pipe and have problems when I am at WOT it feels like the exhaust is coming through the floor board. Just by crawling under and looking at it the y pipe is not rubbing anywhere.

thanks
Josh

Nope, its rubbing. Probably where the drivers side y-pipe comes near the frame brace/crossmember.

It will clearance itself over time, or you can get under there with a BFH and do it yourself.

That is exactly the problem.... you need to try to fabricate some type of brace between the body of the car and the y-pipe right there under the driver seat.

How old are the motor mounts? Worn mounts can usually cause the headers to contact various places. Also, its not always noticable, but at the end of the y-pipe, right around that flimsy chassis brace, that is a good spot for the ypipe to hit.

Re: problems after LT's and y-pipe

I had this problem when i first installed my pacesetter LTs. A friend of mine gave me a trick to use. It worked fairly well too. You support the transmission, remove the crossmember, lower it a little, put a peice of wood, 2x4 or something between the frame and the flat spot on the y-pipe, then slowly lift the transmission back up. Should flatten the pipe a little more and provide enough room. I did that and now it only does it under hard acceleration in first or second gear. I blame it on the tranny mount though, one side of it is seperated. New one should be here monday though and hopefully it'll fix it.

yep motor mounts and headers are almost a must , or at least for me it is

ur motor is torqing to teh right and bringing teh driver side y-pipe onto ur floor member

i installed poly mounts and my motor doesnt even move, if it does its ever soo slightly lol

I put some washers under the cross member but I do notice one spot, that brace that goes from the rearend to the transmission the y- pipe is sitting right on it. I am sure the motor mounts and trans mount has never been changed. Where can I buy some good mounts from? thanks for the help I thought I did something wrong.
