Problems!!

Ok so i just dropped in a lt1 from a 94 corvette into my 96 z28. i didnt hook up the exaust yet and i turned it on. it turned right on. then later i turned it on again and i let it run for a while and after about 1 min. the rpms starting going down and i had it at wot and it was still going down and eventually it died. It did this a couple times. now, when i turn it on, it doesnt really do that, it idles at about 450- 500 rpms and it sputters frequently and while pressing the gas it has trouble going up in rpms. On top of that it overheats even while the fans are on. i know that the 94 did not have a crank position sensor but the 96 did. So im thinking its a computer problem? i thought it could also be that not enough fuel was getting to the engine...its ran about 15-20 minutes total since i dropped it in..so i though it should be getting enough fuel by now..so what do u guys think it is? oh and the engine only has about 59k.

Re: Problems!!

Yes the 96s had the crank position sensor. Remember that 94 is OBD1 and 96 OBD2

Re: Problems!!

check the pressure and scan it for codes. Hook up the exhaust, it's really a bad idea to run an new engine setup while it's so loud you can't hear anything going wrong.

Re: Problems!!

Have it scanned for codes and put the exhaust on it first.

Re: Problems!!

The PCM will store the codes so you can retrieve them later. You can pull them at any time.
