Problem with Summit order
Problem with Summit order
I bought Pace setter headers from Summit and took them to a local exhaust shop to have them installed. Well the headers have a bad o2 bung. My options are to pay to have the headers removed and send them back or pay to have the headers frabricated a bit. In any case summit wants no part in helping me with the labor charges or fabrication charges for the damaged product they have sold me. I am very irritated with them and was wondering what you all think I should do
what exactly is wrong w/the 02bung? could the exh. shop have crossthreaded the 02 sens when trying to install? I installed some SLP headers that had been freshly coated, the 02 started to thread in fine, but then halfway in, it seized up. there was coating stuff in the threads and took out the 02 sensor. once I got the 02 sens. out, it cleaned up very nice w/an 18mm tap. they shouldnt charge you anything for that. it only takes a few min.s to do since the bung is right there. either way, you should be taking this up w/the manufacturer, and like you have done let summit know of the bad product.
Im guessing they wont help you because of the probability of the shop not cleaning the threads before installing the 02 sensor.
another thing, Ive never heard of any company paying for labor or custom work done to a faulty product. only exchanging the part, sometimes paying for shipping.
good luck either way

I've never had a problem with them, but then again I've only ordered from them twice, no headers involved.
Is there a warranty involved? If so, why the heck aren't they honoring it? I'd threaten to take them to court or something. Keep hassling them till you get some sort of response. If it's "There's nothing I can do", then take it to the next person up the chain. You could always try and contact the Better Business Bureau. I don't know how much that would help, but companies shouldn't be allowed to just do whatever they want to their customers.
I can't believe they wouldn't fix something as simple as an o2 bung.
