Pro Mag's, Trunion problem ... ????

I noticed over the last couple of days my car was making a very slight tick, coming from either an injector or rocker. Well, it started getting louder, so this morning I pulled the valve cover.

All rockers WERE set to 3/8 turn past zero lash, engine running to set them. They all held this setting and are tight. The lifter seems fine, as the rocker is holding adjustment.

But if you try to wobble the end of the rocker back and forth, 6/8 on the driver side have that normal, minimal amount of play you can move them. The other 2, have what feels like double the play, and one of them actually feels like it catches a lip or something. It definatly is not right.

Anyone know if there is a warrenty on Pro Mags, or where I can get the parts to rebuild them?

What can cause this ? I have Isky adjustable guideplates. They all looked pretty well centered over the stem when I installed. But the problem rockers actually are now slightly off center too.

I'm thinking of switching to GMPP Guideplates if no one has had issues with them, and getting my pro mags rebuilt.

Let me know what you guys think cause I need to order parts ASAP. My cam will be in in a couple days, and I need to get this done before college starts back up in a few weeks.

I've got what I suspect to be a slightly ticking rocker, can still hear the tick even after replacing the comp r lifter with new ls7 lifters.. I think I'll take a look under the valve cover tomorrow and see if I noticed anything similar to your observations... Also, I'm using the CM guideplates.

I have been through six sets. On every one the trunions were toast. Comp wants $192($12 Each) Plus shipping to replace the trunions and won't sell you just the trunions.

NEW rockers can be had from near that so why bother. I use them for mock up and give them away when people need a spare.

So basicly I put it in the budget to replace them every year. Comp has been of no real help blaming it on every thing not enough oil to bad geometry. had to agree when the only thing going bad is the trunions..

I am pretty confident that if you measure the ID and the OD deminsions and contact a ball bearing shop you can get them much MUCH cheaper, maybe even better quality too. $12.00 a bearing is insane.

the problem with that is it is an open bearing riding on the trunion. You would need to machine and reharden the shaft at the least

I guess I dont understand this statement, could you clarify? It just looks to me once the retaining clips are removed then the bearing would come out. maybe I am wrong here.

They sound like a perfect match for their "R" lifters and behive springs
