Is it possible to put a 95 opti on wrong?
Re: Is it possible to put a 95 opti on wrong?
When your removing the opti and it gets wet b/c of the water pump, is the opti pretty much gone, should I buy a new one, we put it back in and the car isn't running right, backfires when you give it gas, and idles "ok", but in gear it runs bad.??

We tore everything down again and sure enough it was sitting in the cloverleaf....fixed it and put it back on right now it runs great...the cat was clogged so we punched that out and that fixed the problem that we though was the opti to begin with...anyways...so the answer is yes it can be put on wrong and I did it!

Don't feel bad. Many others did the same thing. I'm pretty sure on 94 it's hard to index it wrong but out of compulsiveness, I pulled mine a couple times to make sure. I also ran it before the water pump went on to verify all was well. So far so good.

Yes the dowl pin on the end of the cam wasn't sitting in the correct spot when I put the opti on..I guess it shifted or something...it was sitting in the cloverleaf...all I had to do was take it back off and put it back on!
