Is it possible to pass emmisions with....
I am planning on running a switcher chip on my car, is it possible to make a program to pass emmisions by adjusting A/F ratios extremely lean? The car currently has no cat, EGR, AIR, and will be running on open loop due to the fact that i am not using am oxygen sensors in the exhaust. I know emmisions here do not account for NOx (oxides of nitrogen) for whether a vehicle passes or fails, so i was thinking that this might be possible. Emmisions and pass/fail based on hydrocarbons (unburned fuel) and carbon monoxide (i beleive caused by hydrocarbons?). Also, they do not check to see if anything is hooked up, unless you are trying to waiver emmisions based on the fact that you exceeded the $ limit. So techniquely, if I were to run a program with extremely lean A/F at idle and light loads (ex: 16:1) shouldn't I be able to pass emmisions?

Theres a little more to it than that, but yes you should be able to get that cam to pass emissions as long as its not much bigger.
HC's can also go up when you get too lean, CO's shoudln't be a problem.

sweet, I'll be sure to have a "emmisions" program added while I got a wideband on my car. What would be the ideal A/F ratio to pass emmision (without a cat, AIR, EGR), 16:1?
