Possible Cam Install
Possible Cam Install
I am throwing around the idea of putting an aftermarket cam in my car. I currently don't have the funds or time to do it so in the mean-time I have been thinking about just putting in new roller rockers. My question is that if I put in new rockers now, will that affect installing a cam later? For example, I am assuming you have to do somethign with the top end when installing a cam, would that include taking out the rockers, pushrods, etc? Also, would you guys recommend just doing it all at one time instead? If I were to put rockers in now, what are a good set to match to a more mild cam like the hot cam? I have been reading a lot about the 1.7 RR's, would they match up to the hot cam? Thanks for all your help and opinions.

If you do rockers you will also need springs. When you eventually install the cam, yes your will need to relash the rockers. That is very very minor compared to the rest of the work of installing the cam. As long as you get springs to handle whatever cam you are getting you will only have to go through that install process once during the rocker install. You aren't really creating much extra work at all. I would recommend going ahead with 1.6...or 1.7 rockers now if your itching to mod it.
