Poor idle after cam install / Tuning
Hey guys, I have a custom grind cam (228/238 @ 112 LSA , .510 lift) with some home ported heads on my camaro. I haven't driven it much since the cam install, i'm on stock programming still. When the car reaches warm idle if i leave it in park/neutral and rev it up past about 1200rpm then simply let go of the gas, when the car tries to return to idle it will drop down to about 300rpm sputter a bit and die. In drive it idles pretty rough and hangs around 500-600rpm but seems to stay running (occasionally i gotta tap the gas to keep it going). So I assume i need tuning. Before driving the car an horu and a half to PHoenix to get it tuned i'd like to get things tuned within reason so i don't mess up the plugs or anything. What are your guys opinions on mail order tunes, anyone have experience with mail order tunes on custom grind cams? IS it going ot be worth the time and money?
As for tuning in general if i want to try and tun myself what kind of software am i gunna need. Evne for a mail order tune, is there somethign free/cheap i can run to get some info on like my A/F mixture and such to at least give the guys @ PCMForless or whoever i go with an idea of what I need done? I'm totally green here...and right now sort of wishing i had a carburetor

You just need a tune. Get a cable from www.akmcables.com and have Pcmforless e-mail you the program for the mod's. You'll be happy with the results.
