I just did my plugs about a month ago. I have the stock manifolds. You'll need to jack the car up or put it on ramps. #1 & #3 are simple to get to. you can get to them from the bottom. #5 is a little tricky, but I got it from the top. #7 is simple and you can get to that one from the bottom. I think you have to remove the heat shield on that one. To do the passenger side, I removed the alternator and starter. I got #2, #4 & #6 (heat shield) from the top. I got #8 (heat shield) from the bottom with a box end wrench going up through where the starter was. hope this helps.

I didn't change the wires. if anybody does have some tips on this, that would be great. they do look tricky because of the limited amount of space you are working with.

I did mine over spring break. I didnt remove anything. It can be done and makes the install/removal faster since you arent taking off parts you arent replacing. I used NGK TR55 GP's and stock wires. I had bought MSD superconductors but didnt install them since I didnt feel like unbolting the stock harness and stuff. Also I figure if the stock wires are working fine, dont change them unless you have a built engine that craves alot of spark. I mean on a stock engine it just wasnt worth my time with stock manifolds to mess with wires. During a header install I'd do them though. Save the money and get SFC's or something. Without taking anything off, make sure you have small hands and alot of patience. You CAN get to all of them just take your time and think it through. Also make sure you do one at a time so you dont cross wires.

The hardest part about wire routing on the LT1 is getting aftermarket wires (like 8mm wires) routed behind the power steering pump in the stock channels. The other tough part is on the driver's side of the block is a plate that bolts on to the block, the #7 wire runs behind that plate. You have to take that plate off to get the wire out.
