I plan on leaving the manifolds on, but does anyone else know if I need to take anything else off, or will I be able to get to it all without having to remove stuff? This is my primary concern above all else right now. Thanks!
I dropped the starter, made 6 & 8 much easier but then again, I have LTs. Manifolds might not be as bad. Either way, it's a pain but it's worth it!

Takes roughly forever. Its really difficult and frustrating. Have someone with skinny arms available to help you. I removed the alternator. I really hated doing it.

Alright, cool. Thanks guys--I definitely appreciate it! Sounds like a job and a pain in the butt, but I'll get it done.

Will do, but probably not until later this week. They still have to come in.

On my 94, I found it easier to drop the exhaust y-pipe and cat to give me extra room to move when getting some of the plugs from under the car.

I've done almost all of the work on my 94 since I bought it, and plugs and wires may have been the most frustrating job I've done. I don't think I'd even try to get oversized wires in the stock looms on the passenger side.

Good thing they don't have to be changed very often...

Hmm, kk. Have you done the motor mounts or starter? I'd say those two top my list as the most frustrating. How do they compare?

If you have the stock Y-pipe on the stock cast iron manifolds, you will almost certainly break off most of the studs if you try and drop the Y-pipe. Then you will have another frustrating problem.

Lol, EXACTLY why I am not going to do that! I'll do it another way. I already tried dropping thy Y, but I quickly discovered it would be a long process.

I haven't done the motor mounts, but have replaced the starter. The starter was also much easier to do with the y pipe removed... Plugs and wires were WAY more frustrating to me... Partially because changing plugs and wires on most cars is so easy...

I've read about that being a common problem, but I didn't have any trouble backing the nuts off the studs. I did pre-soak them with pb blaster. and hit the threads with a wire brush before I tried to remove the nuts.

If I was ever going to do headers, that would have been the time to do them...

As a side question, to the original poster... Do you have any reason to think your plugs and or wires are bad? (arching, missing, etc...)

ditto. But thanks for checking! These wires are pretty worn man, so I figure I better just replace them now. Not only are their cracks all over in them, there's some metal exposed, too. Not good.

All day and then some, took us all after noon to get all of them out but one, we left it in till the next day we noticed we had been so frustrated we never tried a non deep well on it. Second time (few days later, don't ask) my step dad managed to do all the plugs in and out in a little over an hour.

Oh that hurts. Ok, well I will probably wait until I get back to my place in western washington until I change the plug wires. How much can you honestly mess up your engine by driving with a misfire?
