Plug Wire with way high resistance,
Plug Wire with way high resistance,
I burnt one of my taylor wires and a friend gave me a spare stock one to replace it for now. I noticed the wire he gave me had like 50 ohms of resistance and my taylor ones have less than 5 ohms. I was wondering if something is wrong with the wire and should i use it or not?
Re: Plug Wire with way high resistance,
That sounds pretty low. Resistance will vary by length, though. Stock wire are like 800-1000 ohms per foot and no problem with them. A lot has to do with the construction of the "wire".
Re: Plug Wire with way high resistance,
My bad, the taylor wire was less than one Kiloohm, the wire he gave me was 20 kiloohms. It just seemed really high though. Should i put it in there temporarily or not. It is an old one thats beat up bad though, thats why i was asking. At least theres no tears in the insulation like my burnt taylor one.
Re: Plug Wire with way high resistance,
As an example, a stock coil wire is not considered bad until it reads over 30k ohms. That stock wire may get you by for now.
You can't really compare resistance between different brands of wires.

Re: Plug Wire with way high resistance,
Answers my question...pulled off my plug wires to measure resistance:
1 - .784K ohm
3 - .680K ohm
5 - .831K ohm
7 - .901K ohm
Taylor Spiro-Pro's. Guess I'll keep searching for a problem.
