Please help me identify this coolant hose (pics)
Please help me identify this coolant hose (pics)
One of the coolant hoses that connects to the waterpump on my Firebird cracked open while I was driving it this morning. I'm not sure what the hose is called or where I can get it. It's on the passenger side of the water pump.

Can anyone tell me what this hose is/what it's called? I know it's one of the heater hoses; can the small piece from the water pump to the metal coupler thing be replaced or does the entire hose from front to back need to be replaced?
Also any part #'s if you have them would be appreciated

That hose has a restrictor fitting in it, but Im not sure that it can be separated from it. You might be able to get away with splicing and putting in a new piece of hose there.
I'm not sure how the car reacts w/o the restrictor..

Hose goes to the heater core. I would try and splice it if the remaining hose isn't dead. Otherwise you'll need to get a new line which includes the metal piping if you want to replace it with what's there. The restrictor slows coolant flow through the heater core. Your heat may not work as well if you replace the line with plain ol' hose, but it may not matter depending on where you live.

Always a good idea to check Shoebox's Tech Pages:

that is a 3/4" elbow that you can probably get in a parts store, and then cut that lower swaged fitting off, and just replace it with regular worm type hose clamps.. cut the aluminum clamp part way thru [make a slit]carefully with a Dremel etc and use a big screwdriver in the slit and twist to finish breaking the clamp
I am sure i have seen small elbows like that in parts stores...
If not shoebox has the GM p/n, it's hose # 7 on the diagram

About 2 years ago I went around with GoodYear engineers about the missing piece[the kit has 10 of the 11 needed hoses]they promised to include the 'missing hose' in future kits, but never did..
Can you verify that the 11th piece is included now? and that the 3/4" elbow ISN'T included?
Thanks!
