Please help, I'm carless it won't start!!

well I go to try and start my car (95 ta) and as soon as I turn the key from the on position to the start position it sounded like a faint pop or maybe I was hearing things it's really late and I'm fairly tired. Anyways the lights flashed and then nothing. Darkness the clock wouldn't turn on, the doors wouldn't lock. No flashing lights on the speedo when I turn the key back to the on position. It's late so I can't see very well but all the fuses looked ok to me. I replaced the one I have my electric wp going to because I assummed it was that. But no luck I'm going to go back to IHOP tomorrow after work with an ohm meter. I really need my car though guys I can only bum rides for so long. Any helps greatly appreciated.

Sounds as though the battery is low, bad or has a bad connection. First thing to do is check battery voltage. Then with the key on, check the battery voltage. Then with the key in the crank position, have someone check the battery voltage. You don't want the voltage to go much below 11 volts when cranking the engine.

If all that checks out, you want to clean all the connections. Be sure to get not just the battery terminals, but the positive cluster on the passenger fender and especially the grounds to both the engine and the frame. These 2 grounds are almost never checked or cleaned.

this is weird. I checked all the fuses w/ a meter and w/ close inspection they were all good. So I checked the battery w/ the meter good also my mom was w/ me and she swore it was the battery also so I got it checked at autozone and there machine said it was good too. Then I took off the alt. to take to autozone and hooked back up the battery. And all the lights and radio, door locks everything worked again. It was getting dark, and the cars still stuck up at IHOP, so I didn't reinstall the alt. and crank it. I had bible study that I was late too so I'll get the alt. checked tomorrow morning at autozone. Then see what it does from there. There was just a very little bit of corrosion on the + connection nothing that would be of much restriction but I'll scrape that off tomorrow morning too.

My lights, doors nothing worked before now everything seems to work power wise:
The only thing that I did diff. was

1) remove my electric wp from the fuse panel

2) I have a racetronix fuel pump and I didn't reinstall the chassis ground to - battery terminal wire.

3) Removed my starter kill.

? could one of these things be the cause of my problems??????
OR IS IT JUST THOSE DARN GRIMLINS!!!!

Probably a poor connection that you "fixed" when messing with stuff. If you found any corrosion, get rid of it.

Well I finally got a ride and took my disconnected alternater to autozone. It wasn't holding a charge what should I do??

1)Buy a autozone remanufactured one for 75-80 bucks??

2)Buy a new autozone for 175 bucks.

3)Buy one from Mr. Cromer.

4)Buy one from the internet.

I have underdrive pullys should I get one w/ a little more amps to help out on idleing????
