Please Help, Check engine light on and car running rough????
Please Help, Check engine light on and car running rough????
Hey guys, I need some help. I have a 97 camaro LT1. I was on my way to work this morning on the freeway i passed a car, then my check engine light came on and started flashing for about a minute. When I got to my off ramp and stopped it was running really rough and engine light stays on. What do I check? How can I pull the codes?

You might want to try a search... I've posted lists and summaries of capabilities several times. There is a summary of hardware and software in my online writeup, but a lot of the "links" are out of date.

Is there a way to pull the codes using the OBD2, meaning with out a scanner, where you count the number of times the check engine light blinks?
I know on my 82 we use a jumper wire or paper clip.

No... you can't "flash" the codes with a paper clip on any LT1 after 1993. Harbor Freight sells a "code only" OBD-II scanner for $40. Brent Franker bought one and it worked fine.
