I am trying to figure out which would be the correct JE piston to use on my 97 Lt1. I would like to have 9.5:1 compression.

 

Jegs has these JE forged pistons listed. Part number 532-170817 is an inverted dome that will come in around 9.2:1. That will be the closest off the shelf piston for your stated goal of 9.5. In addition, if you have your heads resurfaced, or run a thinner head gasket, that will bump your compression closer to 9.5.
