Performance Rebuild

I found out my headgaskets are gone and I have a noisy valve so I have decided to rebuild the entire engine. I am hopping for around 400hp. I plan to put a 12 bolt rear on this winter then I will put 100 shot on so the motor will need to be able to handle that.
My budget is 3k but hopefully a little less.
My mods to date are hooker lts,y-pipe and catback, moroso cai.

I am thinking about a kit from summit for the bottom end which is $550 I think

Le1 head and cam package by lloyd Elliot.
What else will I need to complete the valvetrain?

Ill be getting a pcmforless tune

What else should I get. I really need some help and information on this.

BTW I have a 95 z28

Re: Performance Rebuild

To complete the valvetrain you need to get roller rockers, guideplates and hardened pushrods.
If you have an auto get a bigger stall.
Talk with Lloyd he'd help you pick the right parts.

Re: Performance Rebuild

You need to teardown the motor and see what shape it's in. Everything may be good to re-use, but OTOH you might have to replace a lot of parts. You don't know till you look. If your budget is tight, don't order anything until you know what you MUST do. That may use up more of your $$$ than you are thinking.

Yeah, $3000 seems a little low for a rebuild. Even after the $550 kit from summitt, you will need machine work. On top of that, ~ $1100 for Llyod's heads (if your going LE1), valvetrain components, and miscellaneous nickle and dimers. If you were't going to spray, i'd recommend taking a look at the 4 bolt-main LT-1 shortblock Scoggin Dickey advertises for $1800.
