Poll the other SR faithful here for a recommendation on a forced lubrication/self oiling SR Lifter. I bought a used SR setup that used the traditional SBC Crane SR with the horizontal bar. In all the build up when I was asking all the questions about it, not one person mentioned NOT using these lifters. I only got to drive it about 8 months before one of the lifters came apart and trashed the 383 stroker I'd waited 2 years to get put together. Once I told everyone that it had died, THEN they were full of recommendations and information about what I should have done. Lol... I'd never even heard of such lifters. It's all okay now though. I have a new motor and, even though I loved the power of the Solid roller, I'm even more in love with my current setup.

I haven’t selected all the valve-train components yet, but when Lloyd Elliot reworks my AFR-195s during the off-season, I’ll probably go with new 2.050” intakes and the .100” longer valve stems. I have Jesel Sportsman shaft rockers and they came with the .100” spacers. Also, I haven’t decided which SR lifters to use.

What kind of oil psi, does everybody run @ idle?

I know it might have been mentioned, but what can you do mechanically, to help oiling @ idle? Other than raising the idle up..IMO, thats a bandaid.

Here's the thread from my solid roller. Within it you'll find references to the machining you can do to either the lifter or the lifter bores, plus the pressure oiling lifters and importantly, *what* kind of oil (not just synth. That's not enough).

I use a standard flow oil pump, idle at 1000 or 1100 rpm and have 17psi, but increases dramatically once rpm increases (ie ~40psi @ 2000rpm). This is with oil restricting pushrods, however I did not notice an increase in pressure at idle w/ the OR pushrods over standard ones.
Just for reference I am using Isky Red Zones. Naturally when I first bought them Isky didn't bother informing me that there would be a decrease in oil pressure due to the extra oiling holes for the roller bearing.
You can use oil restrictors which go into the block or use a high pressure oil pump as long as you have an acommodating oil pan.
