As if we all didnt know a dyno tune would be better than mail order? Not everyone has access to a dyno, or someone who can tune. I had one of my cars dynoed and asked about tuning, they said to provide my own software. I wouldnt want them doing anything with my car, and wish i wouldnt have let them dyno it. I think these mail order tuners do a great job for the price they offer. If we all had a dyno shop setting next door, and could all afford to have a tune done, we would.
www.ls1speed.com, they are in Illinois. If you have just boltons a mail order will get you pretty damn close, but if you do internal work a dyno tune would definatly be worth it.

If im not mistaking ls1speed is in or around the chicago area...which is a 6 hour drive. I do agree, if you have internal work, big cam, blower, etc, a dyno tune is a must. Boltons stick with mail order

Ok...I voted for PCMFORLESS. My car is a '93, with a replaceable chip. When I did my ported heads/CC305/30# injectors/58MM throttle body/etc., I mail ordered a chip from Alvin @ PCMFORLESS. With a full weight/stock suspension/stock bottom end car, I went 12.0 @ 112 MPH. When I finally had the car "dyno tuned", we only picked up 3 HP. You don't get much closer than that on a mail order tune.

i finally decided and put my vote for pcmforless. the deciding factors i used were...the poll slightly favored them and the price. some may take the price differences as "i'll get the cheaper one" but i took it as "you get what you pay for" even though its only a few extra bucks

Have not used Madz, but have heard a lot of good things about him. I went with Alvin at PCM for less, and am very happy with the results.

My vote was PCM4LESS.....Bryan gives AWESOME customer service! Nothing against MadZ, I've heard nothing but great things about his tuning as well. I went with PCM for the price & service.

I've tried PCMforless. An obd2 to obd1 pcm mod conversion. I liked their modification form, but, I think they were kind of busy, and, it took a time to get the PCM. I can understand that. But then I had a problem with engine timing. I think the knock sensor is pulling timing and performance really dropped off @ WOT. So, I re-installed my OBD2 PCM and plugged in LT1edit_Ver2.2. 4 months later, it's running strong and I know alot more about the gm PCM. I would like to see a PCM mod list of what was changed as a customer. Nothing long, but a check list 1 page long @ max. I am quite modified, and, maybe it is difficult to tune by mail. (383 - D1 - Meth/ H2o). I don't know what to do with the OBD1 pcm.

Ion from Madz28 let me drive out so he could personally tune my computer. Pretty good service if you ask me. And a quality tune which fixed many problems. Great guy.

last bit of info for me...

i just ordered the tune from Brian at PCMforless.com and had a little trouble with the order sheet where you type your modifications ONLY because it is so thorough. i was given his number by a fellow member and called him for help at 8PM and he answered and was more than happy to help. he walked me through all the steps over the phone and i couldn't be happier. so far, customer service would get an A+ from me, and i'm sure the performance will get the same once it comes in the mail

I've seen and messed with tunes from both guys and I decided to vote for Ion. I've never seen anything bad in either of the tunes, but I've liked Ion's a little more. Mail order tunes are hit or miss anyway. Also, dyno tuning is not necessarily the best way to tune a car. I prefer street tuning with a wideband.

Wow this poll was close. I was curious at how many HP you guys were gaining from one of these tunes?

I am running pretty stock with a full intake setup (cai, gran. maf, air foil, 1le), underdrive pulleys, and a full exhaust setup (edelbrock mid length, y- pipe, 3" catback) ---

Depends on the entire setup. Even then, no two cars will ever be the same.
