Re: Pcmforless Tuning Vs. Madz28

I drove to Bryan's location in PA since it's only about an hour from me. Bryan was great to work with and made a difference in my relatively stock car. He will be tuning my 355 when it is all done.

Re: Pcmforless Tuning Vs. Madz28

I have heard great about both. Alvin from PCMforless kind of dicked me around with a throttle body though. I wanted to buy it but he wasn't very willing to awnser my questions about what all would need done to make it work on my car (Monoblade) and told me he would rather sell it to someone who is more knowledgable. That really pissed me off bad. Because afterwards I emailed him again trying to better explain things that its not that I am not knowledgable as to working on cars, I jsut didnt have any experience with converting an LT1 intake for a monoblade. He never emailed me back. So that kind of irritated me a bit to say the least.

That aside, I have heard nothing but good things about both. Bryan lives closer to me so I would consider that when I actually get tune once the heads/cam funds are deep enough.

Although MadZ28 has some awesome work to back his name up as well.

I was looking out for YOU when I didn't want to sell you this monoblade. Its too much throttle body for the car and comes along with many strings. I told you in 2-3 emails that I thought it was too much for you. I do not build throttle bodies and do not have time to answer tech questions along with it... So take that how you want it. What would you have rather me do? Sell you a throttle body even though I didn't think it would be good for you and your application? IF you call ASM they will do the same thing

Heres the last email I sent to you incase you forgot...
Joe,

I don't have a good feeling about selling you this throttle body. This
piece is a 1300 CFM throttle body and is ment for near race applications
only. In fact it does not have provisions for EVAP or the breather to the
valve cover.

I think I'd rather sell it to someone who knows fully what they are getting
into.

Just thinking in your best interest.

I hardly think I'm "dicking" you around.

Sorry for the rant guys, that really struck a nerve

Re: Pcmforless Tuning Vs. Madz28

I've always had my car tuned by pcmforless, and it's always been great, fast turnaround, etc.

My buddy has the *exact* same setup I used to have on my car and his times are dead on to what mine used to be with a madz28 tune, so they must be pretty damn close.

When I did my ported head/CC305 conversion on my '93 Z, I had Alvin at PCMFORLESS do me a mail order tune. With the mail order tune, the full weight, stock bottom end car went 12.0 @ 112 MPH.

Alvin came up to Pa., from SC to do a dyno tune day for the Speed Density guys. We could only find 3 extra HP over the mail order tune! Alvin knows his stuff. I'm sending him my chip in a few weeks so he can reflash it for the new 847 cammed 355. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it.

He just did mine a couple of months ago.
He does seem a little hard to get ahold of, but eveything happened in a timely manner, and it did perk up my car considerably.

I remember talking to Alvin about the throttle body. He had a lot of problems with it trying to get it to work, why can't you just accept the fact that he was trying to save you the frustration?? Would you have rather he sold it to you then you'd be left with a TB that you couldn't do anything with/didn't really need in the first place?

When someone with as much GM experience as he does gives me advice, I take it and I don't think a second thought about it. I think people get too defensive for no reason.

Re: Pcmforless Tuning Vs. Madz28

Bryan did a mail order tune for my AI head/cam install and my car started right up! It runs pretty darn good and I can't wait until I get it on a dyno.

I would not hesitate getting another tune from PCM for less.
