Unhappy Are PCM Failures Common ??? Car is BAD!!!

my car is running poorly and alot of things that can be checked with a voltmeter guage and vacuum guage arent corresponding with the readings im getting from my scanner. Is it possible the pcm got wet and is going bad ??? Ive gone thru the checklist for the ignition in the service manual and it seems like its leaning towards pcm replacement.

Is pcm failure rare and should I keep looking troubleshooting ??? Its leaning one bank out , richening the other , says the right bank cat is ineffecient , tps cuts out sometimes. My scanner sometimes goes dead and I have to restart it while the car is running. All the problems are getting progressively worse too. Im running out of ideas with this car , its been bad all summer and I havent made any real breakthrus.

I have a few autotap logs if anyone wants to see. Thanks in advance , Justin

edit: oh yeah also forgot , when I went to test the coilds resistance I got 5.5k ohms from all three terminals to the wire output but when I pulled the terminal out the plastic piece came apart so I want to replace the coil since now it kinda sits in there. Should I go with GM or the MSD Single terminal replacement ??? Thanks again

PCM failure is EXTREMELY rare. More often then not it's something else. Never suspect a faulty PCM untill ALL other causes have been explored.

already replaced , didnt make any difference. I didnt think pcms were common problems , just hoping maybe I was onto something. Ill check all the computer wiring connections and see If I can find something faulty. Any Ideas besides that ???

Umm only way i can think of killing the pcm is getting it soaked with water which is unlikely because it is sealed. You could also kill it electrically giving it too much power or heat. Fuses usually eliminate the excessive power problem and idk how you could overheat it without overheating other things.

I did degrease the motor for the first time ever about a month before the car got bad.
