paging Brent/Injuneer/Shbox/experts: hesitation off idle

ok, so the past few months i've noticed the following issues:

1) when warmed up i sometimes get a slight stumble if i drive off slowly in 1st gear, when the rpms reach up around 2000 it's smooth. no high rpm issues at all (hot or cold)

2) if i'm on the highway driving say 60-65 and in 6th gear, rpms are about 1500, if i hit the gas to accelerate slowly around traffic or something or up an incline, same thing - stumble appears. downshift to 5th rpms climb to >2000 no problems, and will pull smooth into high rpms.

any ideas? was tuned up with full a/c delco factory plugs/wires etc in 2001 at 65k miles. car only has 75k now.

seems to be more present when the motor has warmed up, and if i have the a/c on.

thank in advance.

I had this. It was bad plug wires and especially the coil wire.
Replaced them and the hesitation was gone.

Worn or slightly fouled plugs can do this too, might want to also replace the O2's.

Try some performance low resistance wires like MSD super conductors.

hmmmm....interesting. i actually considered this but, the wires only have 10k miles on them. granted they are 6 yrs old, but the car is only driven once or twice a week. shouldn't a/c delco wires be good for >60k miles?

Monitor the TPS to see if the reaction to the throttle opening is linear.

I use Taylor Spiro Pro wires. You can get them for around $40 and I've never had a problem.

I've been having a tip-in lean hesitation for years now. It's not the plugs, wires, or any other ignition component. The A/F ratio pegs high when I tip-in the throttle. No one knows how to access the accelerator enrichment in the '94/'95 computers. I'm running 84 lb/hr injectors and the Acceleronics impedence converter.

Suggestions?

PLEASE do not page specific people in the "topic". If you need to contact someone, me included, PLEASE use a PM. The tech forums are not for paging people. When I see my name called out, I ignore the post.

I'm going to start taking a hard line on this is the future, and lock/delete "pages" in the tech forums.

I'm just saying watch the TPS reading with a scanner while you slowy press down on the gas pedal to see if the readings go up with no jumps or bumps. The engine does not even have to be running to do this, just key on.

thanks for the feedback - unfortunately i don't have access to a scanner, so might have to have a shop do that test.

A digital multimeter is enough to test it.
