Overheating Question

Ok guys I just installed my 355 LT1 in my car. I flushed my radiator, installed all new hoses, new thermostat, bled the air out of the system, and I am running a csr elec. water pump. It gets really hot when it is just sitting at idle but it doesnt get to the red line. As soon as I drive it and get maybe a block down it overheats. Any idea what I can check?

Re: Overheating Question

try a different stat, and bleeding the system again just incase an air pocket is trapped. also make sure your fans are comming on. since youve rebuilt, is your pcm stock? if so the fans dont come on until a pretty high temp.

Re: Overheating Question

I am unsure of the flowrate. I think it is 37 or 35 gpm. Yeah the pcm is reprogrammed but it was programmed to come on sooner. The fans do kick on though. I guess trying the new stat would be best huh
