I was thinking about that but I can't see the damn thing. lol I noticed that the car gets no spark until I crank it up for the 3rd time and even that takes about 10 seconds of continuous cranking before I get a spark.

The tach does not use the crank sensor, it's only used to detect misfires. Somehow, someway, it's the opti. Seriously, good luck.

I don't think we are talking about the same sensor. You must be talking about the knock sensor not the crank sensor.

Tach

Well if the car started first the tach is broke that 396 probably makes the tach scream to 7k quicker than a 350 so you prob broke the tach I would check the pcm or hook it to a machine. Then i would say Opti next.

First, sorry to hear about your problem! I'm not sure what your problem is, however, it may not be the opti. Possibly some of the information and troubleshooting techniques on Shoebox's site could help.

Also, where did Bryan set your rev-limiter for the 396? And, what cam are you running to turn 7K?

did you try to bypass your 6al? i've had those boxes go bad.

how did you test for spark? at the plug or the coil? if you checked the plug, try using a screwdriver for ground on the coil wire to see if you have spark coming out of the coil.

are you getting fuel/did you check the injectors?

I don't know what cam Chad at Golen engines used for my setup but this thing actually pulls that far up, lol. Its a custom grind I know that for sure. Thats besides the point. I now know that the problem is the opti. The thin wheel inside the opti was way distorted. It actually scrapes against the optical sensor. The bearing is a tad loose and the rotor is scraping the plastic shield in there. Something catastrofic happened in there, im not sure what. Im changing the opti today, so we will see if that resolves the problem. Keeping my fingers crossed.

That really sucks. Let us know more as soon as you do. These things were supposedly designed to go up past 7k rpm and that was a major base of their marketing.
