OVC plug wire zip-tie eliminators...Must see

I was in the process of zip-tieing my plug wires to keep them from melting on the headers when I got to thinking there must be somthing better. I did not want to be out on the road and have a tie fail as a result of heat or wear.
I went to Lowes and in the electrical section they had metal straps that are covered in rubber with a mounting hole.
I bought three of the and bolted them up to the head and they capture the wires perfectly with no risk of failure. In fact it looks good enough to pass for factory OEM.
The best bart is the clamps are $1.25 each.

There is a lot of versitility installing these for every kind of header. You can install up four in the existing bolt holes on each side.

No part number, I threw the pack away.
Im using a big one on the passenger side, it holds two wires.
On the driver side I have two medium ones, one holds one wire and the second is holding a wire and the cruise control cable.
The rest of my wires dont need any capturing.
Just go to the elecrical isle at Lowes or any hardware store. They were not hard to find. They also have plastic ones but whats the point in that.
You could install eight total and it would look professional and be worry free functional. What a deal for less than 5 or 10 bucks.

What happens when the rubber burns away? It's going to get pretty hot right there.

What happens if it doesnt? Then life is good

This is testing in progress.
Even if the rubber does fail the metal ring that captures the wire surely will not. There is still no way of the wire burning on the header.

I would still trust the rubberless metal ring more than a zip-tie.

I guess if the rubber fails then im out a mind numbing, bank breaking $3.75 and 5 minutes of my life and will resort to somthing still more reliable than zip-ties.

I think that is a pretty smooth method. Even with the OTVC kit, I still had to use a ziptie to secure the wire away from the header a little more, your method will look alot neater..

Those are called Adel (pronounced "ay-dell") clamps BTW. Used on aircraft EXTENSIVELY. I can get them by the bucketloads for free....

Ahhh you stole my Idea!! Actually I prefer to say that great minds think alike.
I took mine a step further though and removed the rubber as I figured it would melt from the heat and make a mess. Also I didnt like how close it held it to the header flange so I procurred a 1" spacer and 1.5" bolt that held it in the exact spot I wanted.
Heres how mine turned out.

As long as the ring does not get hot enough to melt the wire...I guess time will tell. I was not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to point out something you might not have considered. I'll keep my mouth shut next time.

What's up Shaun. Yer Hawk still kickin? Mine is doing well, although I need to put the stock thermostat back in, as I don't think I'm getting more than a 70* air out of the heat in this cold weather and it sucks.

You have to get rubber extremely hot for it to liquify, melt and make goo. If the rubber reeacts to the heat it will begin to crack and eventually just break apart. As long as they last a few years or so thats fine with me. I figure if I have to replace the 3 clamps every three years it will cost me .003 dollars per day.
We will see what happens.
Plus I doubt seriously shoebox will keep his piehole shut.

Brent,
Got roughly 5k miles on the new motor. Gotta figure out why it still feels down on power though. But that's for another thread ....I do think that this winter I am going to do the OVC route and I thank those who brought forth this idea.
