Lightbulb Optispark Cap Screws

One of my screws for the cap is stripped, is there a over size screw i can get to use.
I should rephrase that " the cap screw hole is stripped out is there an oversized screw i can get to repair this opti?
(kind like what they have for stripped out brake caliper screw holes so you don't have to replace the whole spindle)

Thanks!

its the cap screw HOLE that is stripped out so an oversize screw would work to fix it. but don't know where to get one.

Aluminum is pretty soft, you could try finding a tap the next size up and rethreading it slightly larger then find a screw that is the same thread pitch as your tap. All available at ace hardware, tru value....one of those places. Or you could get plastic weld....coat your bolt in vaseline, push it through the hole after filling it with the plastic epoxy and adjust until it's where it would normally rest when tightend down then let the epoxy dry. Afterwards back the screw out as if you were loosing it. The bolt will not stick to the epoxy and itll cut threads into the now dry epoxy. Should be fine as it's not a huge amount of clamping force there. The hole is rather small though so that second method might be tough.

Re: Optispark Cap Screws

i going to Tacoma Screw they are a wholesaler if they don't have an oversize screw ill just tap to the next size.
This is crazy that i stripped it using my hand on just the socket and this is a GM distributor i put in 8 years ago, they must of screwed up the treads at the factory.

thanks

I've changed optis in the past on my camaro for years since I've had it,and I NEVER had issues with screws you mentioned. And I don't think the factory messed up the THREADS. You probably stripped it by overtightening the screw. The screws just need to be snugged. Not gorilla tightened

i know it was messed up, because i was only snugging them up after putting gasket sealant on it, with the socket in my hand and you know how small an E4 socket is.

Anyway i taped it and used a socket screw.
