removing dist cap on optispark

removing dist cap on optispark

I recently installed the dynaspark on my z and was going to remove the cap on my original opti, but the screws are so small i do not have a tool to remove them.

any help or suggestions? it is smaller than 4 mm.

They are reverse hex screws you can by the sockets from autozone.Take the opti with you so you get the right one.

it;s called an inverted Torx. I do not recall the exact size off the top of my head but do like said. Take it in and match it up

Pretty sure I have read that it was an E4 torx (sometimes hard to find). It's the same size as the screws in the top of the throttle body and you can use one of those screws clamped in a vice grips to act as a "socket". The screws are not threaded close to the end, so you can grip it there without damaging the threads and still be able to put it back in the TB.

I purchased a cheap off-shore socket set of those. I then had to grind the neck of the socket to fit the deep recess in the cap to reach the torx fitting. With a little work it enabled a quick removal of the cap.
