I know all the bad press that the GM Opti gets but, do we really know how reliable the optical portion is at 7000 RPM. Is the optical pick up and corresponding signals to the ECM clean at that point or does it start missing counts after a certain RPM. Anybody ever have a scope on one to see the true signal reliability?

I've seen the optical sensor supply a reliable signal (verified on a scope) to an aftermarket ECU on an 1,125HP LT1 that was routinely revved to 8,000rpm.
