opti not lining up

Have tried for 3 hours to line up this new opti and it just won’t go on. Tried taking the cap off and moving the rotor to try to line it up and it won’t go. Tried doing the same with the old one and it won’t go on either. Really trying not to force it on. Any tips or tricks? Not a lot of info out there on this problem.

There is also a new opti seal.

Shoebox has a method, referencing TDC. Scroll down in his cam install procedure, under “Oil Pan Diagram”:

4th Gen LT1 F-body Cam Install

http://shbox.com/1/opti_back.jpg

Did this involve a cam change, and possibly the result of the dowel pin being too long?

Did you replace and lube the two o'rings on opti shaft. Old ones may be brittle and not install as easy as it should

The new opti came with new o-rings and i gave them a generous amount of assembly lube. I also put some of that lube on the inner lip of the opti seal.
