Opti/Motor Swap

Opti/Motor Swap
How can I tell if the optispark is a vented or non-vented? My car has a 1996 motor, as it was swapped in when the original one died on the original owner. I don't see any vacuum hooked into the intake elbow, or anything. Is it possible the 1996 has a '94 non-vented opti hooked up to it, or would the guy have had to use a '96 opti?
Maybe the only way to find out is when I get it changed and it is taken out... but that'd take longer to get it fixed...
Thank you.

You can't simply bolt an unvented Opti onto a 96/97 engine. The drive system will not match and the hole in the timing cover will not match. You could swap the cam sprocket and the timing cover, but then there would be no place for the CKP sensor/reluctor - which you wouldn't need with your 94.
A vented Opti will have one vacuum nipple on the cap and another on the metal body.
