Opti Install Question
Opti Install Question
I'm just finishing up an opti replacement and when I went to put the harmonic balancer back on, I realized that I did not take note of the arrow's orientation before I removed the balancer. So, not knowing the correct orientation, is it possible to figure out how the harmonic balancer should be aligned & installed just by looking at the crank hub? Or is it even that big of a deal? If i need to do top dead center....how do i do that? will i have to remove everything that I just finished putting back on?!
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you removed only the damper, and not the hub, the damper will only bolt back on the hub one way. The three "arms" on the hub are not equally spaced. If you removed the hub, you did it the hard way. Since its a "damper" and not a "balancer", exact orientation is not critical. That's why the factory didn't bother to put a keyway in the hub.
