opti or fuel pump problem?

well it was raiing really hard out here and i was driving the TA normal. started fine has been running fine. well she all of sudden shut off out of know where. i pulled over couldnt get her to crank at all. i go today when its dryer and try and start it and it wants to start but acts like the opti is off alignment or the valvetrain is adjusted too tight. could this be fuel related? or did the opti get wet or what? need some good input on this one from anyone. cause i am puzzled. when the tow truck gets here i am going to tear into the pump and get rid of the bucket and just hose clamp the pump to the metal peice. when i do get it to start it runs but if i give it too much gas it will die.

i was also wondering if anyoine has heard of the opti just jumping out of alignment? thanx in advance

Re: opti or fuel pump problem?

Attaching a FP guage will determine if its a fuel issue, otherwise follow this.

Fuel
Air
Spark
Compression

you need these 4 for an engine to run, track it down. Fuel is easier to diag than spark IMO

Let it dry for a day or so, If ya continue turning it over without starting the lifter's will bleed down making it harder to start.

Re: opti or fuel pump problem?

My question is have you measured the FP via a guage, while putting a load on the vehicle??

If not do so, so that you can say, fuel is not an issue. New FP have failed. It does happen.

Since your asking, is it fuel or spark, I say confirm that before saying you threw a part at it, your not 100% sure its fixed, no?

Re: opti or fuel pump problem?

ok, i let it dry for a about two days and its finnally not raiing after that damn tropical storm. she fires up now but idles very rough and the longest it will run is about 2 minutes. sometimes i can get it to rev as hoigh as 6k but it only did it oncel. and it went to 3k a few times. this definitly sounds like an opti problem but my opti only has at most 3500 miles on it. whats the deal?

Re: opti or fuel pump problem?

update two. i unplugged the MAF and descreened it. i had the whole MAF assembly off the car and it idled nice. i put everything back on and got it to idle. i took it around the block and it was the worst ride ever. RPMS would register near 3k but the car was definetly not moving at 3k. i would also be driving around 35 MPH and it would be idling at 1k at that speed. i am at wits end someone help! i am letting it just sit and idle hoping that dries whatever needs drying out.
