Opti or fuel pump going bad?
Opti or fuel pump going bad?
Car is in signature
The engine shuts off for a split second, almost like I turned the key off/on. .
This problem is only happening randomly and only at high PRMs 5,000 - 5,800 and 90% it in 3rd or 4th gear. Very rarely in second. Could happen once during a pass, sometimes twice. and sometimes it goes down the track no issue.
Drain the pump gas and put in 100 octane unleaded.
I changed out the plugs ( gapped at 22 same as I have for year), wires ( since I had everything apart ) coil and ign module, even tried bypassing the Excel Digital Ignition system..
I checked the harnesses, put it on a lift (engine running of course ) and wiggled wires thinking maybe a bad ground or something to that effect, check all the ECM connections etc. Even moving the steering wheel to different positions, tapping/pulling key, tried spare key, so don't think it's in the ignition.
If I drive normal, stay below 4,000RPMs, no issues, drove for an hours with no issue, bumpy roads, on the highway for 10 miles doing a constant 70MPH etc and it's fine. But I can't make consistent passes at the track? Hard to run your dial!!!
No codes,
Rev limiter 6,400
Fuel pressure constant ( eclectic FP gauge )
O2's ( looking at data log of EMC and I have Inovate LM2 system installed at they read fine until the engine shuts off.
Scan it's showing me anything?
So could the opti be doing it. It's about 8 years old, has about 3,000 miles on it.
I would think if the fuel pump was losing volume I would see it.
I hate thinking about replacing the OPTI!

Re: Opti or fuel pump going bad?
Run a data log on a pass using Scan9495 (which also works for 93). I'll take a look at it for you.

Or, just buy my Formula. Cliff found a possible buyer for it, but the guy still has to come look at it.
