1994 z28 camaro with lt1 engine
I recently did an overhaul of my lt1 engine and was wondering, since I am at the finishing steps, do i have to find tdc to be able to set the valve lash, or can I just go ahead and set it as is? I have already timed the engine, however the timing was displaced some after I put in the rockers and push rods. Was also wondering if that might affect it adversely in some way. Help haha please. I also had to have ot bored .020 over spec to get rid of some rust issues. Dont know if I'd need to tune it or if that's even possible. EDIT - it has a roller cam with lifters. 'Hydraulic lifters'.

Guide to setting valve lash on an LT1 from Shoebox:

How did you “time the engine”? Do you mean you set it at TDC on #1?
The overbore added 3.5 cubic inches, about a 1% increase in displacement. A tune for that alone is not necessary. If you ever have it tuned in the future, for some other reason, be sure to tell the tuner about the increased bore. On the other hand, on a totally stock engine, you can pick up 10-15 HP simply be leaning out the stock, overly rich PE mode (~WOT) target A/F ratio in the tune.

I'll move this to “LT1 Based Engine Tech” where you will get more exposure. Not a lot of members come to the “New Member Intro” forum to respond to tech questions.
