They don't provide programming services. So the above example does NOT include programming. And you have to build the harness yourself. Yeah let us know how that works our for ya.

Did you ever think since most of us have the OEM opti with no problems what so ever that either you have another problem or someone is doing something wrong?
Couple guys built their own harness over on ls1tech
So it is doable

Okay so $100 + $525 + + $100 + $200 + $65 = $990 + whatever odds and ends you will need, still looks like $1000 to me, lol.

The question I have for this "new" system is,
1. How reliable is it in the upper rpms
2. Is it any more powerful sparkwise than an msd system.

Those of us who are COMPETENT with a wrench don't have much if any trouble with the opti. Not even when we push it a LOT harder than GM ever intended.

Maybe if you stop blaming someone else you can figure out what you are doing wrong.

Well i took the opti off today and opened it up to get a good look at it. Other than a little oil on the bottom of the inside of the opti, there was nothing WRONG with it. It still looked as good as the day when i got it. What else could the issue be?

90% of the time people just blame the opti for everything when it's not the problem. It's rediculous, I would be embarassed if I were one of these people.

I've never had a problem with my optispark, nor have any of my LT1 camaro buddies.

Since one of the main faults with the MSD is the rotor screws falling out (do a "search", its been covered many times in many posts), why would you want to spend extra $$$ on the MSD?

I agree with Fred, MSD makes a good cap and rotor and is competitively with a stock replacement (It was when I bought mine), and long as you use a good thread locker on the rotor screws, It also uses o-rings to seal the cap to the unit and ads an extra screw to base for a good seal. But I'm not spending the money for the whole MSD unit unless its a good up-grade, and that hasn't been proved yet. LF

It appears the price of opti is on the rise. A GM parts opti is 300 dollar @ Summit or Jegs. And, the Summit brand opti is 250 dollar. I've dissected many opti's even disassembly and reassembly of all components and running them. Most of my failures have been with the stock sonic welded rotor (on a 383 D1 FI app with MSD 6A/ 8202 coil). But, I no longer have these failures since I always use alum rivet mod (so I am guilty of warrantee viods). I also use blue loc_tite on the fasteners. But, recently have been having opti encoder failures. So, since I cannot find the encoder part. I am trying the all-ignition.com opti. Their claim is there are some bad quality encoders out there now as shown on their ebay pics, and I have no reason to question them.

I'm trying the all-ignition.com "dragon-fire" brand opti now. Almost a clone of the MSD, and 300 dollars. The case and internals look identical to MSD with exception of the encoder (I don't know). Anyway, it seems to ship with alot of advance built in. So, I am making adjustments after some road tests. The dist did have thread locker on the rotor screws. Also, I had to remove the hub @ assy due to the case being a little taller than stock. I like their addition of a 12mm hex adj bolt RE to the MSD slotted screw.

We will see about the qual of this dist, but it was 300 dollars. $500 was way steep for me @ Summit for the MSD. I took a chance. The stock case and parts are good with the exception of the optical encoder. If I could only find a source for the optical endcoder part, I would have three (3) good opti's.

Just my experience with opti. B.

I just responded to a post on the Firebird Nation site regarding problems someone was having with the All-Ignition "Dragon". Given All-Ignition's history of scamming people by selling cheap rip-off Opti's, and claiming they were OEM, I'd be a bit hesitant to deal with them. Do a "search"... I'm sure the problems were discussed in posts a year or more ago.

I'll just keep chugging along with my OEM vented Opti, running on the optical sensor only (like the LTCC.... but not exactly). Its 10 years old now, and the engine is set up to run 7,000+ RPM redline.

it would be much more reliable in upper RPMs - just look at how well the system holds up on LS1s. Its mostly the same stuff!

I would choose the LTCC if you want to do it on a budget $399 for the LTCC, $200 or less for the coils and $200 for the Thunder Racing LS1 coil relocation brackets & wires so about $800 total. I had this system until I found out about the EFI Connection 24x setup.
I have the EFI 24x setup and I brought the whole Enchilada $1700 for everything plus I already had the Thunder LS1 coil relocation brackets & wires plus I found a place that has programmed 5 of these EFI 24x LS1 to LT1 computers.
