Hi yes you are correct .

My friend uses this setup and he said it works great and the coils are better. Total is $526.
So you can use those coils, and it all works fine? Also, would a Digital 6 ignition system then be totally useless?

yeah it would be useless. that system controls the output of a single coil, so you would need four of them or a dis-unit.

Yes these coils would word fine .... (note: our coils are a improved version of the gm units which also give you a full 40,000 volts)

At this time you will not be able to use a Digital 6 ignition system... (look at it this way you can sell the Digital 6 to get back money you spent with me )

Re: Opti direct ignition, YOU"VE GOT TO HAVE ONE OF THESE!

I ordered two of these from Jim. Talked to him on the phone for a while. He was a big help and answered all my questions. Excellent customer service. Thanks, Jim!!!

Also, just to let some of you know my logic that made me go this route...

I have a 94 and a 96 that have engines on engine stands in the garage waiting for me to get some time to finish the projects. Both cars currently have aftermarket ignitions. I planned on purchasing new optis for both cars when the new engines go in not because they are bad now but I know they will be going bad soon But, by getting the Delteq setups, I'm now NOT going to replace the optis and just put my used Optis back on. I'm also going to be able to sell my aftermarket ignitions. When you add up the savings by not buying two optis and then selling the ignitions AND ending up with a Delteq setup in each car, the decision was a no brainer

You might want to check agian. Your total of $526 dosn't include an ignition modoule. I looked into this route and abandoned it when I found out the best price I could find it for was over $200.

I thought the brain of the system is an ignition module

Jim, can you please explain? Thanks.

How does this system use the stock opti? Do you have to take the waterpump and stock optio back off to install the new system? I just did a waterpump install on my car last night and it was no fun at all. My opti is probably wet so I hope nothing happens to it but if it does I wanted to go this route if I didn't have to pull the pump again.

Hi,
The ignition module charges the coils but the Delteq "opti box" is responsible for controlling the system via your PCM

Hi, this system plugs right into the existing wiring harness ... it is not necessary to remove the water pump etc .... plug and go !

I gotta say, if I had the money I'd be getting at least one kit, considering I'm probably going to be seeing the top side of 6500 RPM. I like what I've seen so far, for sure.

I'm based at McGuire AFB, but live about an hour south in Sicklerville. Less than 10 miles from Atco Raceway!!!

As soon as it becomes feasible, I'll probably be getting one of those systems, and if it works out well, will get another for my other 93.
