opti change options...

my opti on my 93' just went out and i am looking for some new options. i have heard some good things about delteq's coil system but do you have to have a functioning opti for the system to work correctly. the opti is fairly new but it just went out again because i got a bit of coolant on it. which choice is best other than just buying a new gm opti out right. i am up for anything so i don't have to deal with this crap anymore...

Considered converting to a vented opti?

Re: opti change options...

Your opti will work fine for either the Delteq ot the LTCC ignition conversions. The part of your opti that went bad is not the part that has to be working for either of these ignitions. As far as choosing between thw two, I chose the LTCC because it had a two stage ignition retard, and a built in soft touch rev limiter. To control timing with the Delteq you have to do it through the PCM or with one of the high dollar MSD DIS ignition systems, and the Delteq does not have the rev limiter. You don't have to swap to the vented opti to use either ignition.
