Cheap? I say overpriced. You can get coated Pacesetter longtubes for 384.99. Why settle for mid length, thats the same question ive been asking my self. haa.

again those are painted, id go for coated headers. although ive been running coated pacesetters for about 18 months and overall i am very dissatisfied with the finish. they gave me a tremendous power increase but the coating discolored in only a few months and by a year the coating actually started bubbling and cracking.

doing it over id spend the cash for stainless hands down.

Thats what I have, I bought the coated one's though. Like sn8ke said, the coating is not top of the line, but it is a good price and does give a nice power increase.

A couple of the supporting vendors on here are selling coated Pacesetter LTs for a good price. Might be worth looking into.

go over to ls1tech go in the lt1 section and search for the lpp headers, 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 long tube 321 stainless headers and y for 550 and free shipping, you can't go wrong. The only fit issues seem to be sliding the steering colum over and possibly dent the underside of the body on the passenger side.

1-7/8" primaries might be overkill for a "stock h/c" engine. If he's planning on a high RPM 396 in the future, they are OK. But that primary diameter on a stock engine is not going to be good for low end torque.
