i have no idea, 3rd gens are my thing there simple to work on, 4th gens r tricky and im still learning them. the only thing i can thing of is maybe the opti got wet, does that sound normal, for an opti, to hesistate until it gets to a point where load and rpm r the same and dont change if the opti got wet or is going bad

Check to see if your oil is milky. If not, I, like others, say its a bad opti. Let it dry out to make sure. If its the same way tommorow, replace the opti...

I had a problem similar to yours. If I ran the car through the gears with moderate pedal pressure, it would run like a champ. If you jumped on the gas really hard, it felt like running into a brick wall. The tires would spin and then bam, the car would seem to stall (no I don't have traction control, just a light that flashes). Anyway, I finally figured it out, one of my spark plug wires was a bit too long. So if you were driving normally, it would stay relatively in place, but when you jumped on it, the combination of the engine torqing and the car jumping forward suddenly would make the plug wire contact the header and ground out a cylinder. Instant brake. I know when I do my cam in Jan/Feb, I'll be replacing all the plugs and wires since the headers will be off the thing (Vortech says to replace the plugs every 15K, what a PITA!!!). I'll probably route the wires over the valve covers. Still looking at the LTCC though, just need a spare $400 bucks plus a set of coils.

Well it ran fine, just all of a sudden did this... Im thinking they go wet from what everyone is telling me.. I really hope its not the opti or a blown head gasket.

Problem seems to be fixed... I just took her for a spin and no hesitation or anything.. Im guessing that the opti may have dried out.. But it still doesnt explain that darn noise i heard when i shifted into different gears... Also would a power steering pump failing be the cause of the steering wheel to get hard sometimes or even not turn at all?

Yes, but that also could just be belt slippage.

I would guess that your opti got wet and it has dried out since.

I have noticed that if you blow one water hose and get the car pretty hot that the other hose will usually go shortly therafter, especially if both hoses are about the same age, the heat really deteriorates them.

The Noise you heard on shifting may have been knocking (pinging) from the engine being hot, or it could have been misfires from the opti being wet.

If the car goes in limp home mode it throws a light.
