Ok to use radiator stop leak?

I have a leak in my radiator and will have to have it replaced or repaired, but I was wondering if I could use that stop leak stuff as a temporary fix until I can get it repaired? I dont know if there are any small enough passages in the block or heads that this could clog up, so if there is risk, please let me know and I woulnt use it. Thanks.

GM uses it. They sell the tablets at their parts counters. I've used it with no problems.

I had a leaking freeze plug in my 1988 Iroc. I used the Bars (Sp) radiator stop leak stuff, and it worked like a charm. I don't have the car anymore, but it seemed to run just fine when I had it.

Don't use the GM clay tablets. They have been implicated in heater core clogging problems.

If you must use a radiator sealer, the only one that I have seen consistantly work and not cause problems is Bars Leak, which generally comes in a clear or grey plastic bottle with a black liquid inside. It used to come in wet pellet form, but apparently they decided the pure liquid form was better.

Ill see if I can find that Bars Leak before and give it a try before I replace the radiator. My leak is fairly slow and I believe is a crack or hole in the plastic endcap of the radiator. As best I can tell it is a few inches below the radiator cap. I switched to a 13lb cap to try and slow the leak down. Guess I should have described the leak first. Does this sound like something stop leak stuff would fix? Thanks for all the info thus far guys.

If that's all the leak is, I wouldn't even bother with the stop leak. Just keep a jug of water with you to fill it up if it gets too low. And if it's just below the radiator cap, I'd get some JB welder or something to rig it up till you get it fixed. I'm dead set against using stop leak in the radiator. I've seen it clog up too many heater cores, and cause too many thermostats to stick to justify using it for such a small leak.
