Just wanted to give an update. My mechanic found out that my oil pump had seized up,causing pressure to build which in turn caused my oil filter to rupture. That's what caused all the oil to spill out. He's checking out everything else to make sure everything is ok.Adjusting valves, etc.Looks like I'll get out of all of this for around $100.00

Its probably gonna be more then 100.00. I dont want to burst the bubble but If the oil pump seized, then I am gonna say the oil pump drive got damaged as well. It is a steel gear and shaft housed in a plastic unit that has a flimsy plastic ear that bolts to the block. The Intake will have to be pulled off to replace this and hopefully the cams drive gear in the rear is ok. Just went through something very similiar to what happened to you. But you might have gotten lucky and just sheared the lock pin that holds the gear to the oil drive shaft. Either way the Intake will have to come off.

Umm..I would think if your oil pump siezed up, you would have zero oil pressure. Second, I don't see how you could pay a mechanic 100 bucks to drop the pan, replace the pump(if siezed) and put it back together. Sounds kinda fishy to me.

I saw Fort Bragg in the bottom of your sig. Are you stationed there? If you are, I live in Fayetteville and I am stationed at Fort Bragg. Sorry I am not trying to hijack the thread. Forgive me.

If your oil pump seized where is the pressure coming from that ruptured the oil filter???? No oil pump=no oil pressure

Hey,
Believe what you want to believe,I'm not going to argue. He has worked on my car for the last 5 years and has NEVER done me wrong. I may have worded what he said wrong, but I know what he meant.
