Oil temp sending unit...Importance???

Well i was changing my oil on sunday and with my hooker LT's it was a little tough to get a oil filter tool on there with enough room to turn it. Well while trying to do this i tore 1 of the wires on the oir temp sending unit. Well i think that is what it is. It is a plug that goes into the oil pan next to the drain plug. I soldiered the wire back together but its not a good soidering job because there was hardly any wire next to the connector for me to work with. How important is this to be working perfectly? Thanks.

What that is is the loe oil sensor, just splice the wires back together, it will not effect performance or danger your motor if you check your oil regularly.

You will have an annoying little light on your dash though.
