Oil Pump

what all needs to be done to put in a High Volume pump? is it difficult with i need to pull the motor or can i do it under the car just by pulling the oil pan? i know i need the pump and new pump shaft with the steel guide but will i need a pickup or can i used the one from the old pump and what about the oil pan? does it have to be deeper? and will i see much of a change in oil pressure with a HV pump?

Re: Oil Pump

A logical question would be why do you feel you need a high volume oil pump? There are some huge HP strokers and stock displacement engines, running the stock pump with no more than a blueprint on the pump, "white" high pressure spring and a tack-welded pickup. In fact some people with stock pans have cited pump starvation problems with the HV pumps.

Re: Oil Pump

The white spring is a GM part. P/n can be found on the part numbers page in my sig. Install a new pickup, too. That should be automatic, IMO.
